Intel Survey on Women & Technology
From the press release:
"...according to Intel Corporation's "Women, Technology and Lifestyle" online survey of American adults, released today, women are catching up with men in the way they embrace technology."
Women want wireless in doctor's offices (probably because they spend so much time there...not just for themselves, but also waiting for parents, significant others, children, etc.) Where are other places women have to wait or congregate? Could be useful places to add connectivity beyond the usual suspects. How about salons? Killing an hour waiting for your color to set reading mindless magazines? I'd rather spend it blogging!
While men (51 percent) and women (48 percent) agree that the airport tops the list of the most useful locations to have wireless Internet access, women (38 percent) are more likely than men (30 percent) to desire a connection in a doctor's office as well.
The following quote really irritates me, for some reason. Something about marketing technology by using technology as sexual attractor or accessory like a little black dress just turns me off. Maybe because it implies the supposedly driving need for male attention as a core for female decision making. Believe me, my technology purchases have absolutely nothing like this as a driver.
As women are catching up with men, technology companies are catching up with women. "Women want the same things as men - and more - when it comes to technology," said Bell. "As women, we want our computers to be like that favorite 'little black dress' - reliable and functional, there when you need it, and readily accessorized to be as individual as you are."
