I read with sadness Neil Postman's obit in the NY Times this morning. I was first exposed to him in a college sociology class through Amusing Ourselves to Death. I have since read many of his other books on childhood (Disappearance of Childhood), education (The End of Education) and technology (Technopoly: The Surrender of Culture to Technology). I found him an excellent writer with innovative ideas. His work was accessible to the layman and always thought provoking. He will be missed.
Update: Nice article in Salon.com here.
